Customer Voices

“I attended the PSM I class run by Stefan Wolpers from Berlin Product People in Berlin this November and I am 100% sold. I came here intentionally to better understand how our product department works and to get some new impulses on my own projects but after preparing for the course, I started getting hooked on the possibilities of scrum, and just a short time into the class, I seriously started considering looking into shifting fields over to the fascinating world of agility. Thanks to Stefan for being so extremely resourceful before, during and after the class, filling the course with interesting real-life examples (also props to the other participants for sharing), and creating community rather than just sending you off with two days of memories and some printouts. Incredible class, great content, 100% recommended.”

I learned a lot! It was very fun, all the questions answered and openly shared. The information was very interesting and well presented as well as prepared. Stefan has all the knowledge to make this training enjoyable and adaptable to the skills of the group, also is very open to answer questions at all times.

Thanks for the helpful training! Got a lot of inspiration of methods to use for facilitating workshops with my team. Also it refreshed my understanding of the scrum principles and enables me to reflect them for me and with the team. Thanks to Stefan for the helpful training!

The three-day extended PSM training adds a third day that focuses on the application of Liberating Structures to Scrum Events such as the Sprint Retrospective or the Sprint Review to apply the PSM training immediately to practical problems.

Created by Keith McCandless and Henri Lipmanowicz, Liberating Structures cover a set of easy to learn, yet powerful ways to collaborate as a team—even as a (very) large team by Scrum standards—, overcoming traditional communications approaches like presentations, managed discussions, or another disorganized brainstorming at which the loudest participants tend to prevail. Liberating Structures are well suited to improve the level of engagement among participants of Scrum events, thus stimulating the kind of outcomes that are necessary to create learning organizations.

Liberating Structures — Teamwork in the Age of Agility

Created by Keith McCandless and Henri Lipmanowicz, Liberating Structures — alternatively LS — cover a set of easy to learn, yet powerful ways to collaborate as a team—even as a (very) large team by agile standards—, overcoming traditional communications approaches like presentations, managed discussions, or another disorganized brainstorming at which the loudest participants tend to prevail.

Liberating Structures are well suited to improve the level of engagement among participants of Scrum events, thus stimulating the kind of outcomes that are necessary to create learning organizations. Liberating Structures also provide an excellent toolbox to handle Product Backlog refinements or improving the Definition of Done of an engineering organization.

Liberating Structures are a great facilitation tool when groups of stakeholders come together to solve critical issues, run retrospectives, or figure out where to go next at a strategic or tactical level. They work equally well with six people as with a hundred — provided the venue is of an appropriate site, of course. They are simple to understand as well as to apply as there is no advance training for novices required. Liberating Structures are hence particularly well suited as a tool to foster constructive collaboration across multiple hierarchy levels.

We love using LS to include and unleash everyone for the benefits of an organization and its members. We have successfully used them from improving collaboration in a single Scrum Team to supporting a 60-plus strong product organization in reteaming, solving organizational impediments, and turning an excessive feature and requirement list into highly valuable Product Backlog.

If you like to learn more about how we use Liberating Structures to foster collaboration, problem-solving, decision making, and creativity, meet us at a Hands-on Agile meetup or delve into our hands-on expriences with Liberating Structures here on this blog.
