Critical Uncertainties to the Scrum Master’s Rescue

The most efficient and effective method of conveying information to and within a development team is face-to-face conversation.

Freelancing Scrum Masters being let go, with no new projects on the horizon. Employed Scrum Masters being furloughed or fired. Moreover, considering the discussion that remote work is the new normal, we need to ask: Where does this development leave the Scrum Master role in the future? Is it time to reinvent yourself?

To shed some light on this question, we want to run a strategy session for Scrum Masters and agile coaches, utilizing Liberating Structures’ microstructure Critical Uncertainties to identify robust strategies to take our profession to the next level in a post-COVID-19 world:

What is made possible? You can help a diverse group quickly test the viability of current strategies and build its capacity to respond quickly to future challenges. This Liberating Structure prepares a group for strategy making. It does not produce a plan to be implemented as designed but rather builds resilience: the capacity to actively shape the system and be prepared to respond to surprise. This means being better able to see different futures unfolding, better prepared to act in a distributed fashion, and more ready to absorb disruptions resiliently. (Source.)

If you are not familiar with this Liberating Structures microstructure, I strongly recommend investing some time upfront and familiarize yourself with the concept in advance.
